BYD Automotive Batteries – Leading the Development of the New Energy Industry

Through extensive cooperation with vehicle manufacturers, BYD Automotive Batteries has accumulated vast experience, built a professional development and service team, and established broad mechanisms to predict and respond to challenges. Currently, BYD’s automotive batteries have been used in over 40 vehicle models, including passenger, commercial, and specialized vehicles.
1. Operating across the whole supply chain: BYD has a complete system for the development and production of automotive batteries, including mineral exploration, process development, and development and manufacturing of materials, cells, MBS, modules and battery packs, as well as cascade utilization and recycling.
2. Strong product development capability: BYD is engaged in comprehensive R&D activities, guided by technological innovation and centered on battery performance. The cornerstone of these efforts is the development of basic materials; we have conducted in-depth studies involving solid electrolytes, composite membranes and electrolyte solutions.
3. Equipment development and testing capabilities:BYD boasts advanced and comprehensive equipment development capabilities as well as all-around testing capabilities.

Backup Power Supply with the Nuclear Quality Assurance Certification

BYD’s backup power supply supports both independent load-carrying and parallel connection of multiple units and has passed the Nuclear Quality Assurance Certification. Leveraging our independently-developed iron-phosphate battery technology and our breakthrough Bi-directional Converter Multiple-unit Off-grid Loading technology in conjunction with our extensive experience operating energy storage stations on the MW grade grid, BYD achieved a technical breakthrough with upgraded reliability across the board, and developed an energy storage system for emergency power supply of nuclear plants, upgrading the “non-active” emergency power supply for China’s nuclear power plants.

Double-glass Silicone Modules with New Energy Innovation

Designed with 7 key technologies and awarded several patents, BYD’s double-glass silicone modules are among the first TUV Rheinland-certified modules in the world. BYD’s modules address some of the most common issues (such as PID attenuation and snail trail) and achieve a longer service life (40 years) compared to conventional modules. The unique silicone encapsulation and double-glass design enable such modules to be used in a wider range of building structures and in harsher environments. BYD is the first manufacturer of double-glass silicone modules to adopt this design worldwide, and has produced and shipped 300 MW of such modules, sold to many provinces and cities across China as well as other countries and regions including Japan, Israel and Brazil.
